Mr. Wiggins & Ms. Justice welcome you to the Eagle Ridge Learning Commons (a.k.a. - the library!).

Students are welcome to come down to the Learning Commons at any time during the school day to work, read and exchange books. They need to have a hall pass from their teacher.

The library is also open every recess throughout the week. In the morning students from Grade 1 - 4 are welcome with a hall pass. During afternoon recess, students from grades 5 - 8 can visit.

Primary students have a weekly visit to the library scheduled and older students come as a class bi-weekly. During scheduled library classes students will be introduced to different books through book talks and different aspects of technology will be covered in this as well. Digital Citizenship is a focus this year and we've already started talking about it with some classes.

F.A.Q.'s

Student Library Cards

Each student has a library card with a unique barcode number.  These cards are kept on file in the library.  They are used in conjuction with our automated library circulation system to ensure that there is a record of the materials that each student checks out of the library.  Students are expected to check out all materials borrowed from the library and will be responsible for all materials checked out under their account.

Material Limit

Students in grade 1 - 8 are allowed to check out two books at a time.  Exceptions are sometimes made to accommodate multiple classroom projects (at the discretion of the librarian).

Loan Period

All borrowed materials are due back to the library within two weeks of the check out date.

Lost/Damaged Material

Students are responsible to return Eagle Ridge library books in good condition.  If borrowed material is lost or damaged a note will be sent home indicating the cost of replacement.  Please do not purchase a replacement yourself as it may not be the same version as the copy lost (i.e. library-bound, hardcover, etc.).  The librarian will order a replacement copy that both meets our needs and matches our automated circulation records.

Borrowing Privileges Suspended

Borrowing privileges will be suspended if a student has not returned library materials that they have borrowed, or if there are outstanding lost/damaged library book fees.
