Monday February 1st
We are currently working through centers and labs on Density and Buoyancy.
Monday Feb. 8th - 8B will have their test on Density and Buoyancy
Tuesday Feb. 9th - 8J will have their test on Density and Buoyancy
Friday January 15th
We just finished learning about Fluids and Viscotisy. We are now working on Denisty and Buoyancy.
Wednesday Oct. 28th
We are just wrapping up our Cells Unit with an Osmosis Lab. Students will be making study notes in class.
Units Tests are scheduled for 8B and 8J on Monday Nov. 9th
After our unit test, the students will be doing research on a disease
September 29th
8B/8J Quiz will be on: Thursday Oct. 1
Using a microscope quiz checklist:
Carry microscope by the arm and base.
Plug in mircroscope and turn on light.
Ensure stage and objective lenses are furthest apart and objective lens in on X4, prior to placing slide on stage.
Holds slide by its edges.
Secure the slide with the stage clip.
Use coarse adujstment knob to focus on specimen.
Use fine adustment know to make image clear/crisp.
Ensure stage and ojbective lenses are furthest apart, prior to changing to next magnification.
Microscope is put away and carried back as orginally found.
September 28th
Last week we looked at an onion cell under a microscope.
The students will be working on a cell assignment for this week. The students will be comparing a cell to "something", for example a school. Please see handout and rubric for more details.
September 20th
We have started our first science unit for the year, Cells. The students were taught the different parts of the microscope and their function. They had the opportunity to use the microscopes and look at letters printed on paper.
This coming week we will be learning about the organelles of a cell and their function.
